Tezu Band to participate in Republic Day parade
ITANAGAR, Jan 24: The Girls NCC Pipe Band contingent of Government Higher Secondary School Tezu will participate at the Republic Day parade in front of United States President Barak Obama with traditional costume in New Delhi. The girls Pipe Band from Arunachal will be the first NCC Girls Pipe Band to perform in Republic Day since Independence. The contingent will be guided by Rina Singh, an official release stated.

Appeal to reschedule capital bandh
ITANAGAR, Jan 24: Adi Baane Kebang (ABK) appealed to the apex student body All Nyishi Students’ Union (ANSU) to defer or reschedule the date of its proposed 12 hours capital bandh on February 2 next.
The ABK said the proposed bandh call schedule is coinciding with the Donggin festival of Adi community i.é on February 2. So observing of bandh on such occasion would hamper the movement of the community members and the festival celebration which will be celebrated at Solung Mopin Ground Itanagar on February 2. Therefore, considering the importance of festival celebration, ABK appealed the ANSU to defer its proposed bandh call in order to facilitate the smooth celebration of the festival.
Kiri Kaye no more
ITANAGAR, Jan 24: Liri Kaye breathed his last on 24th Jan 2015. Late Kaye is survived by his wife, daughter and two sons. He was the first person from 36 Nari Koyu to secure a master’s degree which he did in 1981. His entire family as well as Kaye Welfare Society deeply mourns the loss of his death.

Brave Rumoh Meto receives national award
ITANAGAR, Jan 24: Along with 24 others, thirteen year old school boy Rumoh Meto has received the national bravery awards today from the Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi while presenting the National Awards for Bravery 2014 to children on Friday said that brave deeds of the children were proof that God has kept in each one of us an element that inspires us all to live for others.
Commending the children for their brave and selfless acts, Modi said that not everyone gets a chance to die for others, but everyone has a chance to live for others. "However, there are very few who are actually able to accomplish this," he added.
He said that "biggest beauty" of the deeds performed by the brave children was that when faced with a certain situation, they could not stop themselves from acting with courage. "In the process, they had inspired others in society." Stating that the children will now have a greater responsibility, the prime minister said that "fame and success can be slippery" and the children will have to keep their composure. He urged them to work towards their goals and dreams relentlessly.
Earlier they were felicitated by president and Vice President of India, Lt Governor Delhi, Defense Minister, Army Chief and Air Chief Marshall.
The National Bravery Award Scheme was initiated by the ICCW to give due recognition to the children who distinguish themselves by performing outstanding deeds of bravery and meritorious service and to inspire other children to emulate their examples. It was in 1957 that two children – a boy and a girl – were first rewarded for their presence of mind and courage. Since then ICCW decided to confer national awards on children every year.

Former minister Sobeng Tayeng passes away

ITANAGAR, Jan 24: Former Member of Parliament (Lok Sabha) and former state Cabinet Minister Sobeng Tayeng passed away today at his residence at Tafrogam, Lohit district.
The last ceremonial rites will be held on January 25 at Tafrogam.
Late Sobeng Tayeng, son of Chouging Tayeng and Nyanni Tayeng was born on August 20, 1944. He did his higher education from Banaras Hindu University and Gauhati University.
Tayeng served the people in various capacities; he was elected as Arunachal East
Constituency, Member of Parliament in 1980. He held the posts of Minister for Agriculture,
Veterinary and Animal Husbandry and Cooperation under Government of Arunachal Pradesh
from 1975-
Governor of Arunachal Pradesh Lt Gen (Retd) Nirbhay Sharma has expressed shock and grief on the sudden demise of former minister and member of Parliament Sobeng Tayeng.
In message, the Governor said that Late Tayeng was eminent social worker who gave importance to idealism in politics. He was a public figure of eminence and one of the pioneers in politics in the State, who made valuable contribution to the nation and State in his long political career. In his death, the State has truly lost a great idealistic politician and a noble statesman.
In this hour of crisis, I, join people of Arunachal Pradesh to pray to the Almighty God to give the bereaved family enough strength and courage to bear the irreparable loss. I also pray for eternal peace of the departed soul, the Governor said in his message.
Chief Minister Nabam Tuki also expressed profound sorrow over unfortunate demise of Former Minister Late Sobeng Tayeng who breathed his last this morning at his private residence at Tafragam village following a brief illness.
“In his death we have lost one of the first generation leaders, who contributed in shaping our state to the present form. He served the state and the country in different capacities and brought a positive change in education and agriculture sectors in the state, particularly in Lohit district. He will be remembered by the people of Arunachal Pradesh for his unstinted contribution to the state and its people”, CM said.
“At this moment of grief, me, my family, colleagues in the Government and people of Arunachal Pradesh extend our solidarity with the bereaved family members and share the pain inflicted by this irreparable loss” he further added.
Meanwhile, the rank and file of the Bharatiya Janata Party, Arunachal Pradesh led by its president Tai Tagak deeply mourned the death of former minister and MP Sobeng Tayeng.
In a condolence message the BJP said “Sobeng Tayeng was one the distinguished first generation leaders of the state, who was committed to the welfare of the people, particularly the poor and underprivileged sections of society. He was an experienced and committed leader, who made important contributions towards the development of Arunachal Pradesh.”
Tai Tagak said Late Tayeng will always be remembered not only as a public leader but also as an active citizen, who played a pivotal role in transition period of Arunachal Pradesh. His death will create a void in Arunachalee society which would be difficult to fill in, Tagak said.
Former MP Tapir Gao also expressed his extreme shock over the demise of the legendary leader, who was more like his elder brother and conveyed condolence to the bereaved family.
A team of state BJP leaders led by Vice Presidents Nakul Chai and Kenyir Ringu also visited the residence of Late Tayeng and paid last respect to the senior citizen.
Meanwhile, MLA Dr Mohesh Chai with all HoDs and officers and officials paid homage to the former MP at his residence. They termed the demise of Tayeng as an irreparable loss and prayed almighty God for eternal peace of departed soul and to give strength to bereaved family members to overcome the present crisis.
Tayeng Welfare Society also deeply condoled for untimely demise of Sobeng Tayeng and prayed to almighty for eternal peace of his soul and give strength to the bereaved family to bear the irreparable loss. The death of former MP is an irreparable loss to the society and the state and the nation as well, said TWS.

In all 30 participants comprising of fishery officers, KVK scientists, farmers from different parts of Arunachal Pradesh underwent the training programme. During the programme, Dr. D. Sarma, Principal scientist and Course director, Dr. S.K. Gupta and Tandel Riteshkumar from DCFR, Bhimtal, Prof. D.N. Das, Prof. N. Kar, Dr. A. Darshan, Dr. Arijit Ganguly from RGU delivered lectures on various aspects of coldwater fish sector such as culture and breeding, fish taxonomy, feed formulation, insects as feed for fish, integrated farming process, fish health management etc. The practical hands on training has also been provided to the participants by the research team comprising Akash Kachari, Budhin Gogoi, Rashmi Dutta, Rajashree Saikia, Ram Kumar of Fishery & Aquatic Ecology Laboratory, Rajiv Gandhi University. PASIGHAT, Jan 24: Security has been tightened across East Siang and Siang districts ahead of the 66th Republic Day. The preparation is in full swing and police forces are expected to be constantly alert to tackle any untoward situation.
